Like many educators, I was hesitant about using AI tools. Joining the Designing Schools AI Bootcamp changed that, introducing me to tools that have transformed how I work and learn. AI now helps me design schedules, create rubrics, and manage tasks more efficiently. It’s also been a game-changer as I start my doctoral program, helping me complete nine orientation modules in a week by focusing my ideas and streamlining my work. AI hasn’t replaced my thinking—it’s enhanced it. Don’t be afraid to dive in—it can truly change how you approach your time and work!
We're facing a sad reality in education: Our best teachers are leaving, and the traditional ways aren’t just failing—they're turning dedicated educators into babysitters, overwhelmed by growing social, emotional, and technological challenges. Meanwhile, our students are graduating, stepping into debt, and then facing a world ready to blame them for a system that was flawed from the start.
These challenges aren't just numbers; they're a wake-up call for us to rethink and reshape the way we educate. It’s time for a change, and today, we’ll explore how we can start making that change together.
I went from barely knowing Google Slides to presenting AI tools in my classroom. Sal introduced everything in such a user-friendly way, making it easy and accessible. Now, I'm obsessed with AI and use it to enhance my lessons, making my workload feel lighter. Thanks to Dr. Q', I not only transformed my own teaching but also went on to lead district-wide professional development on AI and even started consulting. This journey has been incredible, and it all started with the AI Bootcamp.
Sabba offers a great perspective on tools and questions, prompting us to rethink lesson development and assessments in a way that feels both practical and innovative. With AI making traditional assessments more challenging the course shares how design thinking provides a framework to address these issues creatively and effectively. It was refreshing to see a structured approach that helps educators navigate these changes, and it was definitely a highlight for me.
While we focus on AI replacing teachers and how students are using it to cheat, the real challenge is that our schools themselves are at risk of becoming outdated. Today, learning is happening everywhere—not just within the traditional classroom walls. And for many of us as educators, it’s not just about catching up; it’s about keeping up with all the changes.
Educators are irreplaceable, especially when equipped with the right tools to navigate our rapidly changing landscape.
Sign up for the AI Bootcamp now! Sabba is amazing, and you'll learn so much more than just AI. I expected to learn AI tools and tricks, but I'm also learning to be more reflective, identify my strengths and values, and become a better leader. After completing the course, I went on to create and lead a 6-week AI literacy program for my district, filling a gap where no AI training had existed before. I'm on my second round of watching all the videos and doing the activities—don't miss this opportunity!
The live sessions during the AI Bootcamp are incredibly inspiring. She helped us see how we often stick to old ways of doing things simply because that's how they've always been done. Through the course, we learned how design thinking provides a structured method and mindset to take meaningful steps forward. The AI Bootcamp isn’t just about learning tools—it’s about rethinking our approach and finding better, more innovative solutions to the challenges we face.
Design thinking is a new concept for me, and I love how it's about shifting mindsets rather than adding more tasks. The AI Bootcamp has made this process accessible and actionable, helping me see how empathy-driven solutions can transform education. It's been a challenging year, but this approach inspires me, especially with its focus on understanding the needs of both teachers and students. I'm really inspired by the whole process and excited to bring these ideas to life.

When I started out as a high school history teacher in 2007, I believed teaching in a school was my only career path. However, it quickly became clear that the traditional educational model was struggling to adequately prepare students for the modern workforce. This disconnect often leads our graduates into difficult job searches, highlighting the system's inadequacies.
Early on, I noticed a troubling trend: my students were disengaged and unmotivated. This challenge turned into a critical moment for me. Everything shifted when I encountered Seth Godin's book 'Linchpin,' which emphasized the need to identify and solve significant problems within our institutions.
I used to be someone who was really hesitant about technology. I was adamantly anti cell phone. I thought technology was going to kill social skills and I just didn't understand it – so I was really resistant to it.
Despite my hesitations, I decided to get involved in the school’s tech committee. Eventually, I led a project with iPads in the classroom. The results were shocking. The technology unleashed my students' creativity, giving them new ways to express themselves through language, music, and images. I saw more of their personality and engagement skyrocketed, especially from students who previously hadn’t shown much interest.
MY life became easier. No more endless printing or booking computer labs. Classroom time became homework time because I was able to grade in real time. How?
The conversations I was having with my students and the way I was able to observe them allowed me to grade more holistically. My assessment of my students became more dynamic and more meaningful.
I started sharing stories on Linkedin about how my students were impacted by this new strategy and what happened next was truly astonishing. By 2012, I no longer needed to apply for jobs; institutions like USC and later Apple reached out to me. They recognized the value in the innovative teaching methods I was employing and wanted me to help expand these practices.
This journey taught me that leveraging technology is crucial but not sufficient on its own. You must also communicate how it can solve specific problems and open new opportunities. As Don Norman shares, "A brilliant solution to the wrong problem is worse than no solution at all. So solve the right problem."
I'm the Director of Teacher Learning and Innovation at Designing Schools. From the classroom to creator, I’m fueled by a passion for sharing knowledge, empowering others, and ensuring that no one gets left behind in the AI revolution.
My mission is to spark curiosity and help teachers feel confident in integrating technology into their classrooms while amplifying the unique human skills that make learning truly meaningful.
I have wanted to be a teacher since I was 10 years old. Teaching isn’t just what I do—it’s who I am.
While teaching, I saw firsthand the struggles both students and teachers face due to limited resources. At the same time, I began experimenting with AI tools like ChatGPT and recognized the immense potential—and challenges—AI could bring to education. That’s when I decided to combine my three passions: technology, creating, and educating. I launched teach2ai in the summer of 2023, creating short-form TikTok videos that empower teachers to use AI to save time and focus on what they do best—engaging with their students. Through my content, I’ve connected with educators, thought leaders, and innovators in the AI education space.
My mission is simple: to ensure no teacher or student is left behind as we enter an AI-driven future. By advising AI EdTech companies, consulting with schools, and creating educational resources, I’m committed to making education better for everyone.
